First Day After Getting Your Tattoo

It's important to keep your new tattoo clean and moisturized. Remove the bandage after 2-3 hours and wash the tattoo gently with warm water and unscented soap. Pat dry with a clean towel and apply a thin layer of fragrance-free, alcohol-free lotion or ointment. Avoid swimming, soaking, or exposing your tattoo to direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks.

Healing Process

Your tattoo will take about 2-4 weeks to heal. During this time, it's important to continue moisturizing and keeping your tattoo clean. Avoid scratching or picking at your tattoo, and wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent irritation. If you experience any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or discharge, consult a doctor immediately.

Special Attention for Cover-Ups

Cover-up tattoos require special attention during the healing process. Keep the tattoo covered with a sterile, non-stick bandage for the first 24 hours, then follow the same aftercare instructions as a regular tattoo. Avoid exposing the tattoo to direct sunlight or heat, as this can cause the ink to fade or blur. If you have any questions or concerns about your cover-up tattoo, don't hesitate to contact Shane Barber for guidance.
